• Albert Khoo holds a EEE B.Sc (Hons) degree from University of Sunderland UK. As long as 20 years, he has been attached to the renown multinational company Intel Penang,Malaysia. He was promoted to Staff Quality & Reliability Engineer in 1987 for his numerous contributions in ESD Technical improvements for Intel Penang.
• He successfully resolved the yield issue on 386SX PQFP packages due to inadvertent ESD events at the trim and form machines,pick and place mechanism of the test handlers and the ink marking process. He was also responsible to establish a well equipped analytical lab for isolating ESD failures,notably the Emission microscopy which is able to detect feint emissions of energy due to electron hole pair recombination at defect sites.He was the on-site ESD guru and consultant on all matters pertaining to ESD.
• He has been actively involved in presenting technical papers in technical symposiums and conferences,both within and outside Malaysia. He was the first in Intel Penang to present a paper in Singapore first IEEE International Symposium on Physical and Failure Analysis of Integrated Circuits in 1987.
• He also delivered a tutorial on Practical ESD Control at the Singapore IPFA Symposium in 1989 to a total of 150 practising engineers and managers. He was invited to be a guest speaker at the 1993 5th Tropical College on Applied Physics organized by the School of Physics USM on Failure Analysis of EOS/ESD failures.
• He has also being engaged in providing ESD seminars/training for Intel customers both in the local and APAC regions. Some of the local customers include ASE, NatSteel Electronics, National Semiconductor,Unico etc. As for the APAC region,these include Acer Taiwan,Samsung Korea,AST Hong Kong, Seagate Singapore etc.
• He left Intel end of year 2000 so that he can devote himself full time in ESD training and consulting. He now runs an ESD Consulting company and has been providing consulting services since then.
• He is also the Technical Sales Representative for the world reknown largest US ESD total solutions supplier DESCO. He is responsible for SE Asia region and provides technical consultation and advice pertaining to ESD controls.
• His experiences is close to 40 years since he started as an ESD engineer in Intel.His vast experience in this field has enabled him to resolve a number of ESD issues ranging from IC wafer level analysis to PCBA subassemblies.
